We must unite internationally for peace in Ukraine to prevail. Bundestag MP Petr Bystron stated this after the Chairman of the Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life Party, Ukrainian MP Viktor Medvedchuk’s meeting with the Bundestag MPs took place in Paris.
"I believe that people in Ukraine are already fed up with this conflict. They all want peace and they want economic stability. And today it was very aptly stated that this split is horrible, because people have to choose between their parents, between father and mother. ... they are intended to contribute to ending this conflict. And the world can only welcome Mr. Medvedchuk's initiative. Well, you saw the high level of representatives that were at this meeting, there were representatives of the EU, the European Parliament, the Bundestag, the Verkhovna Rada. So, this is a very important and good step in this direction. Diplomacy and politics are, in fact, very complicated and slow processes. But today it has been shown that the speed had been re-introduced, the process of negotiations had been accelerated, and this must ... not only at parliamentary level, internationally, but also to involve people in Ukraine, non-governmental organizations, in order for more public pressure to occur," Bystron said.
"There are a lot of parliamentarians who support this, but there are also forces in Ukraine which are making money out of this conflict, interested in maintaining the status quo, and there are those who want, of course, that the embargo against Russia, which was caused by this conflict, continues to exist. And we all, all the people, who want peace for Ukraine, must unite internationally against all these forces, and we all must join in order to secure peace," the MP emphasized.
As we reported earlier, Viktor Medvedchuk, the MP and Chairman of Political Council of the Opposition Platform - For Life party had a meeting with French lawmakers and senators on January 23, where he presented the "Parliamentary dimension of the Normandy Format".
