The sanctions and political solution of the Ukrainian issue were discussed during the meeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin and Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurz in Vienna as the Austrian side reported on Twitter.
‘We hope and expect that Russia will enable political solutions in Syria and the Ukraine. In this context we also hope for progress regarding the implementation of the Minsk agreements allowing for a step by step lifting of sanctions’, the message said.
Also, a few memorandums aiming to strengthen the economic relations between Austria and Russia were signed during the meeting.
Earlier Ukraine's Embassy in Austria called the government to raise the issue of release of political prisoner Oleg Sentsov, as the Russian leader Vladimir Putin will visit Vienna for negotiations.
