President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Plan A to resolve the conflict in eastern Ukraine has not yet been completed, so it continues to operate. During a press conference, he noted that he is now acting within the framework of agreements reached with the leaders of Russia, Germany and France in Paris.
"Firstly, we have not yet closed the issue of Plan A. And because of Covid-19, any of our meetings in the Normandy format really stopped. Why are we not stopping the Normandy format? Because there is no other platform yet. I advocate a really parallel conversation, another direct conversation with the President of the Russian Federation. I believe that we did it on time, very seriously, powerfully, and it stopped some things, "the president said.
According to Zelensky, the militants are moving away from the borders of Ukraine, but very slowly.
"They are moving away very, very slowly. We see 3.5 thousand so far. In Crimea, that's all, and all the rest, unfortunately, are in place. A serious situation. And I think that such tension - it can take place until the end of the military exercises, at least until September, "Zelensky said.
Zelensky recalled that after the 2019 Paris summit and further negotiations, an armistice was reached in Donbas, which had been in effect since July 2020, and reduced the number of shelling and deaths by several times.
