There are enough water resources for domestic use in the occupied Crimea, but the situation has worsened due to the massive militarization of the peninsula occupied by Russia. This was stated by the speaker of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Oleg Nikolenko, reports Radio Liberty.

"The problem has become aggravated due to its (Crimea, - ed.) massive militarization: the development of military bases and enterprises of the military-industrial complex of the Russian Federation. In fact, the Russian military has endangered the satisfaction of the basic needs of the Crimean civilian population. This once again proves the destructive nature of the Russian policy in the Ukrainian territories occupied by it. But the Russian side does not abandon attempts to shift the responsibility onto others, "the Foreign Ministry speaker noted.

He notes that, in accordance with international law, Russia, as an occupying state, is responsible for the situation on the peninsula.

Earlier the Deputy Director of the Department of Information and Press of the Russian Foreign Ministry Ilya Timokhov said that the actions of the Ukrainian authorities in relation to the occupied Crimea contribute to the growth of international tension. To such actions, he, in particular, attributed the so-called" water blockade "of the peninsula.
