During the March of Pride in Belarus, security officials began mass arrests of protesters using force, water cannons, and tear gas, reported.

Pushkinskaya metro station in Minsk was closed at the entrance and exit. Also, people there were dispersed using water cannons. However, in Minsk protests continue, despite attempts by security officials to disperse people.

A strong explosion thundered in Belarusian capital - and people began to publish videos with a cloud of smoke. A supposedly unexploded shell remained there. Sapper's car approached it and detonated in a controlled manner.

A video of the brutal beating of people in Minsk, who are beaten with truncheons and kicked by "law enforcement officers," has appeared on the network:

More than 100 people were detained in Belarus. The human rights center Viasna, which collects information about detained participants of peaceful protest actions, has information about more than one hundred detainees during protest actions in various cities of Belarus on October 11.

As reported before, after weeks of discussions, EU leaders agreed to impose sanctions on Belarus over controversial election results and the crackdown on protests in that country.

The sanctions against Belarus concern those involved in the falsification of the presidential election results and the brutal suppression of peaceful demonstrations after the August 9 elections.

In addition, leader of the Belarusian opposition Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya met Chancellor of Germany Angela Merkel and the MPs from the parliamentary factions Alliance 90/The Greens and CDU/CSU.
