U.S. will never accept Russia's claims for sovereingty over the Ukrainian Crimea. Secretary of the State Mike Pompeo posted that on Twitter on the occasion of the sixth anniversary of Crimea's annexation by Russia.
"Today, we again reaffirm Crimea is Ukraine. The United States does not and will not ever recognize Russia’s claims of sovereignty over the peninsula. We call on Russia to end its occupation of Crimea", he wrote.
Spokesman of the Department of the State Morgan Ortagus added that currently, Russia's occupation of Crimea "remains an affront to the international order". "The consequences of the occupation extend far beyond Ukraine's border and pose a serious threat to our common security. Russia's aggression against one of the largest nations in Europe is a threat to our interest in Europe's stability and prosperity. It is a threat to the economic, commercial and political cooperation that feeds growth and development on both sides of teh Atlantic", she claimed. The official stated that the U.S. government called on Russia to end its occupation of Crimea.
