U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker said that in his upcoming meeting with aide of the President of Russia Vladislav Surkov, he intends to discuss the withdrawal of Russia-controlled forces in Donbas and release of prisoners, as he told Radio Liberty in an interview.
Kurt Volker said that discussing the means of speeding up the resolution of the conflict are going to be an important part of the discussion. He noted that this would require Russia to withdraw the forces it controls, and the forces that are present in Donbas must be disbanded.
Prisoner release will be another point of discussion, meaning both those who are detained in the occupied territory of Donbas and in Russia. Kurt Volker phrased his hope that bipartisan exchange of prisoners will be a step towards establishing trust and understanding.
