U.S. Department of the State’s special envoy Kurt Volker and Russian presidential advisor Vladislav Surkov will meet in early October for discussions on deployment of UN peacekeeping mission in eastern Ukraine. The ex-U.S. ambassador in Russia John Tefft said that in interview with Kommersant outlet.
‘It is essential that we try to come to terms regarding the possible mandate of the peacekeeping mission. However, any such operation should, above all, be instrumental in fulfilling Minsk agreements,’ Tefft said.
Previously, Volker told the press he and Surkov would discuss issues of restoring Ukraine’s security and territorial integrity.
