The U.S. Special Representative for Ukraine's affairs Kurt Volker expressed support for the initiative of the European Parliament to appoint a Special Representative of the European Union for Donbas and Crimea. He claimed this in his interview for Interfax-Ukraine agency.
‘I think this is a wonderful idea. I met with the members of the European Parliament about two weeks ago. I urged them to focus on Donbas and Crimea,’ Volker claimed.
He expressed his readiness to work in this office in the case he is appointed.
Kurt urged to keep focusing attention on the problems related to the occupation of Donbas.
‘People are still suffering from a serious humanitarian crisis there, the war continues, it is still unsafe there, people keep dying. We can’t let this all to disappear from the public consciousness. This is very important that we have focused our attention on these issues,’ Volker noted.
The U.S. Special Representative of the U.S. State Department claimed he was going to visit Ukraine once more in November.
Reportedly, the European Parliament adopted the resolution on October 25, which condemned Russia's aggressive actions in the Sea of Azov.
The MEPs also supported the appointment of the EU Special Representative for Crimea and Donbass.
