Zelensky accepted Biden's invitation to visit the U.S. in July.
At that, President of the United States offered complete support of Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration, and underlined it was vital to provide Ukraine with the Action Plan regarding its membership in the NATO. Biden said that Kyiv's stance will surely be considered during the discussion of strategic issues in the NATO, and the planned schedules on the highest level.
'The leaders exchanged thoughts on the strategic cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. prior to the important G7 summits and those of the NATO, as well as the planned meetings with EU leaders and President of the Russian Federation", reads the message.
It was reported that Zelensky told Joe Biden about the security situation in Donbas and along the Ukrainian borders. He emphasized that there still was a high concentration of Russian troops and heavy weapons in the temporarily occupied territories and near the Ukrainian border.
"The so-called withdrawal of Russian troops is only an imitation," Zelensky stressed.
The US President noted the importance of discussing regional security risks with the President of Ukraine on the eve of important events in security negotiation formats.
Joe Biden supported Volodymyr Zelensky's initiative to create a Crimean platform. He assured that the United States would present high-level initiatives at the summit.
The leaders of states also touched upon energy security issues. The U.S. President underlined that he was opposed to the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 project. And Volodymyr Zelensky noted that Nord Stream 2 posed a serious threat and was a security challenge. Biden assured the President of Ukraine of security guarantees from the United States.
Ukrainian president also thanked the United States for providing 900,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to Ukraine.
"It will save the lives of many Ukrainians. The United States has once again reaffirmed its commitment to a strategic partnership with Ukraine," Volodymyr Zelensky said.
