Ukraine's Prosecutor General Ruslan Ryaboshapka assigned Viktor Chumak his deputy and the Chief Military Prosecutor. This is mentioned at the website of the Prosecutor General's Office. 

Previously, Ryaboshapka fired Anatoliy Matios from the office of Chief Military Prosecutor of Ukraine.

Former MP, Chumak served in the Parliamentary Committee for Preventing Corruption. In 1995, he graduated from Kyiv University named after Taras Shevchenko - as a certified expert in law.

Last October, Ukraine’s Verkhovna Rada urges the country’s National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine to introduce sanctions against several Ukrainian TV channels. 229 MPs supported the draft law No. 9157 on “Approval of recommendations to introduce personal special economic sanctions and other restrictive measures (sanctions)”. Chumak was among the MPs who supported the document.
