The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has approved the bill № 4135 "On the principles of state anti-corruption policy for 2020-2024" in the first reading. 320 MPs voted in its favour.
The online broadcast was conducted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.
The National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) stressed that the implementation of the strategy would save Ukraine up to 200 billion hryvnias a year.
The agency noted that anti-corruption measures had saved Ukraine up to 6% of GDP annually since 2014.
The main principles of the strategy are:
optimization of functions of state bodies; digital transformation and open data; convenient legal services; intolerance to corruption among citizens; the inevitability of punishment.
As we reported earlier, the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) stated that the anti-corruption system could be restored only through changes to the recent decision of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine (CCU).
"Without changes to the decision of the CCU, no law aimed at restoring the anti-corruption system will be effective in the long run," the statement said.
