Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine ratified an agreement with Lithuania on employment and cooperation in the field of labor migration, adopting bill № 0021. 324 MPs voted in favor.

The document was presented to the parliament by Deputy Minister of Social Policy Oleh Koval.

"The adoption of the draft law will ratify the agreement, which will help strengthen and develop cooperation in protecting the rights and interests of workers of both states and combating illegal labor. Ratification of the agreement will create an opportunity for official employment of Ukrainian citizens in the Republic of Lithuania The ratification of the agreement will also enable the attraction of highly qualified specialists and workers from the Republic of Lithuania into Ukraine," Koval said.

The purpose of the agreement is to strengthen cooperation and provide mutual assistance in protecting the rights and interests of workers of both countries, both Ukraine and Lithuania, which will facilitate the realization of the right to work.

As we reported earlier, the 2019-unemployment rate in Ukraine was considered to be one of the highest in comparison with other European countries. This is stated in the Labor Market Overview, provided by the Ministry of Development of Economy, Trade and Agriculture.

It is reported that the unemployment rate in Ukraine among citizens aged 15-70 was 7.3%.

Higher unemployment rates were fixated in France - 8.3%, Italy - 9.1% and Spain - 13.9%. At the same time, the unemployment rate in the Czech Republic was 2.1% and in Germany - 3.1%.
