The explanatory note states that another baby boom in Ukraine is unlikely, and therefore it is extremely important to improve the pension system in the context of maternal support in order to cope with the consequences of the demographic situation in the country. In this regard, the bill proposes support for mothers in the field of pensions, regardless of whether the family has many children or not.
In particular, the draft stipulates that women who have given birth to a child and raise it before the age of six are entitled to a reduction in the retirement age by six months. This reduction is applied to each child, and the retirement age for women cannot be reduced by more than three years.
At the same time, the draft document proposes that the age that entitles to an old-age pension will be increased by one month annually starting from January 1, 2023. This growth will last until January 1, 2035. As a result, this increase will increase the retirement age in Ukraine by 2035 by one year and will be 61 years.
As it was reported earlier, the retirement age increases for women of the 1961 year of birth from April 1, 2021. It is the last increase of age within the changes adopted in 2011. From now on, all Ukrainians will retire at the age of 60.
