Verkhovna Rada cancels upcoming sessions amid coronavirus case

Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine has adopted a draft resolution № 3511 on the cancellation of upcoming sessions: 311 MPs have voted for it. The online broadcast was provided by Rada TV channel.

According to the resolution, MPs will work in committees and factions on May 21-22.

All these changes are caused by the fact that MP of Batkivshchyna party Oleh Meidych was diagnosed with coronavirus. Meidych is the first deputy chairman of the Verkhovna Rada’s Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy.

As we reported earlier, 354 new Covid-19 cases have been observed in Ukraine over the last 24 hours. Totally, 19,230 people have got infected.

Speaking on Kyiv, the city's mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported new statistics during a briefing.

“The number of Kyiv citizens confirmed with Covid-19 increased by 51 people in 24 hours. Eight medics are among them. During the past 24 hours, two persons died from the coronavirus. Totally, 54 lethal cases registered. As for today, 2,410 confirmed cases observed in Kyiv,” he said.
