Verkhovna Rada adopts law on mandatory wearing of masks in public places

The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the bill № 3891 “On obligatory wearing of masks or respirators in public places and transport”. 262 MPs voted in its favour.

The online broadcast was conducted by 112 Ukraine TV channel.

The law provides for a fine for lack of a mask in the amount of 170 to 255 hryvnias (six-nine dollars).

The perpetrators will be fined for staying in public buildings, structures, public transport during quarantine without wearing personal protective equipment such as respirators or protective masks that cover the nose and mouth, including self-made.

As we reported earlier, Ukraine's Healthcare Ministry will impose the weekend quarantine next week.

According to Health Minister Maksym Stepanov, only critical infrastructure objects will work on these days, including grocery shops, pharmacies, and public transport.

"It is definitely not this weekend. We understand one has to prepare. I cannot rule out we will be offering to do so next weekend already," the official emphasized.
