President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky sacked Valeriya Lutkovska from the working subgroup of the Minsk contact group. This is mentioned in the decree of the President.
She will be replaced by Hennadiy Kuznetsov, the officer of Ukraine's Special Forces. He is the former head of the Security Service (SBU) Special Operations for Counter-Terrorism. Kuznetsov enjoys the rank of the SBU Major.
Lutkovska became Ukraine's representative in the Minsk contact group in June 2019. Prior to that, she served as the Parliamentary Envoy for human rights.
The next session of Minsk group is to take place on February 12. The sides plan to define three extra sections for disengagement of forces in Donbas.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky held the phone talk with German’s Chancellor Angela Merkel. They discussed the issue of three extra areas for disengagement of forces in Donbas. The sides expect that the progress in this issue will be reached during the next Minsk Talks on February 12. “The head of the Ukrainian State informed the interlocutor about the security situation in Donbas. The Federal Chancellor expressed concern over the non-observance of the ceasefire regime by the illegal armed forces,” the President’s Office reported.
