The United States again calls on Russia to release Sentsov and other political prisoners immediately and respect the human right for free expression of thought.

As we reported earlier, Ukrainian political prisoner Oleg Sentsov was awarded Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought. It is supposed that the official ceremony is to be held in Strasburg on December 12. It remains under question whether Sentsov can be present at the ceremony personally. Whether his relative will receive the award or there will be “an empty chair”.

In August 2018, Lech Wałęsa, the Polish leader in 1990-1995, the holder of Nobel Peace Prize offered to nominate Ukrainian movie maker and political prisoner Oleg Sentsov for this prize.
