The United States is seeking to create a coalition of countries that will hinder Russia's Nord Stream-2 gas project. This was announced by U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in an interview with Bild.
"From the U.S. point of view, Nord Stream 2 threatens Europe because it makes it dependent on Russian gas and endangers Ukraine, which, in my opinion, worries many Germans. We hope that Nord Stream 2 will not be completed, and we are working to create a coalition to prevent this from happening," Pompeo said.
As we reported earlier, the EU and Germany should finally refuse from the implementation of the Nord Stream 2 after the poisoning of Russian oppositionist Alexei Navalny.
“The attempt to poison the main activist of the opposition with a banned chemical in two days before the planned debates on the relations about the EU and Russia, which had to take place in Berlin, is a challenge for the whole democratic society. You cannot threaten Russia with your index finger afar and then jump into Nord Stream 2 project with Gazprom group,” Poland's Prime Minister Morawiecki stated.
