The United States is eager to improve relations with Russia, but Washington is not going to ignore the Russian aggression in Ukraine. Heather Nauert, the press secretary of the U.S. Department of the State said that at a briefing.
‘We’re looking for interaction and improve our relations with Russia where possible, since they are a nuclear super-state as well, but that does not mean we’re going close our eyes to bad things they are involved in, like what they’re doing in Ukraine,’ she said. ‘Ukraine’s issue is a very important one; so, we’re going to keep on demanding responsibility from Russia. We have just assigned Kurt Volker as the envoy so that he could deal with some of the problems’.
Nauert stressed it is ‘essential’ for Washington to preserve Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
