US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken has said that Washington believes that a possible conflict between Russia and Ukraine can be prevented only through diplomacy, and is ready to mediate in this matter, TASS reports.
"The best way to avoid this crisis is through diplomacy. I want to discuss this issue with Sergei [Lavrov]," he said.
According to Blinken, the United States has "deep fears" over "Russia's plans of aggression against Ukraine."
"This can take us in the opposite direction. It's just not in anyone's interest. These are not only our fears, they also arise in many European countries," he said.
As it was reported, US Deputy Secretary of State Victoria Nuland said that negotiations on Donbas had reached a stalemate. But she noted that the United States could play a supporting role in resolving the conflict in Donbas.
