Washington and Ankara have been discussing a lot of issues regarding the Syrian conflict, including the topic of Patriot, surface-to-air missile systems. U.S. President Donald Trump said so as quoted by Anadolu news agency.
"We had a lot of conversations with President Erdogan due to the situation in Syria. And we've been discussing just what you asked", Trump replied to the question whether he and his Turkish counterpart talked through Patriot provision.
Previously, Erdogan claimed that the White House did not reply to Turkey's request to place the SAM sites on its borders.
As is known, more than 76,000 Syrian migrants made it to the EU after Turkey opened the border with the Union.
The Turkish government decided to open the borders after military actions in Idlib escalated.
In January, Russia sent 120 missiles for its S-400 SAM systems in Turkey, as Russian media reported. “Turkey has received two S-400 battalions, more than 120 surface-to-air missiles, as well as auxiliary equipment", the sources said back then.
