Washington is ready to strike Syria again if Syrian authorities will use chemical weapon. John Bolton, National Security Advisor of the United States warned Nikolai Patrushev, Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation about it at the meeting in Geneva, the sources of Bloomberg report.
According to the data of the interlocutors of the agency, the US obtain information on the possible use of chemical weapon by the forces of Bashar al-Assad in attempting to return territories controlled by armed groups, in particular, in Idlib. The sources claim that the USA is ready to take stronger military action against Syria, the ones they used before.
According to Bloomberg, the U.S.-Russian talks in Geneva also addressed topics including the possible removal of American troops from a military base on the Syria-Iraq border or their cooperation with Russian forces nearby. As the sources say, the sides were not able to reach compromise.
The U.S. also rejected a Russian proposal for oil sanctions on Iran to be suspended as part of a broader settlement in Syria.
