The Pentagon approved sending another 1,000 servicemen to help evacuate American citizens from Kabul.
According to Reuters, U.S. military presence in Afghanistan will increase to 6,000 men, and the mission will be focused on providing security in Kabul international airport.
All commercial flights over the Afghan capital have been suspended; only military aircraft is allowed to perform their flights.
On Sunday, Taliban movement fighters captured Afghanistan; president Ashraf Ghani left the country "to avoid bloodshed", as he put it. Hundreds of thousand of citizens decided to flee the country. However, the Talibs took control over the state border, and the only way to leave Afghanistan is Kabul airport. People in panic are trying to board the first plane they can catch.
Josep Borrell, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy called an urgent session of EU Foreign Ministers to discuss the situation that occurred in Afghanistan.
