The United States government intends to respond to any possible escalations by North Korea. President Joe Biden said so at his first formal press conference since the victory in the 2020 presidential race.
"Firstly, the tests of these missiles led to violation of the UN Security Council resolution No.1718. We consult our allies and partners. And there will be a response, if they choose an escalation. It will be a due response", Biden said.
The American leader added he was ready to certain forms of diplomacy, but it should provide for eventual de-nuclearization of North Korea.
Earlier, North Korea conducted another missile test. According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff of South Korea, two small-range cruise missiles were fired from the western coast of Onchon, the town in the DPRK. Reuters cited the military of the Republic of Korea who claimed that the tests of North Korean modern nuclear weapons and ballistic missiles are underway now. It's the first time that Pyongyang conducted such tests since the new U.S. presidential administration came to power in early 2021.
