The White House is about to cancel the gratis military aid supplies for some countries. Ukraine is among them, Wall Street Journal reports with a reference to the U.S. government source.
The list of countries includes Pakistan, Tunisia, Lebanon, Columbia, Philippines, Vietnam and Ukraine. The U.S. gratuitous military aid in these countries will be converted to loans, which is foreseen by the President Donald Trump’s budget proposal.
According to the document, the U.S. government is going to continue the policy of supplying gratis military assistance for the Middle Eastern states – Israel and Jordan, as well as Egypt. However, from now on, most of U.S. partners will have to get and spend the money loans from the U.S. to purchase military equipment in this country.
The Washington Post assumes that the new budget’s implementation could lead to strengthening Russia and China’s positions in terms of geopolitical and military influence.
