U.S. to create coalition to replace Maduro's regime in Venezuela

The U.S. wants to form a coalition to provide peaceful transfer of power in Venezuela, as President’s Advisor John Bolton said on air of CNN.

“We are trying to rally support for the peaceful transition of power from Maduro to Guaido, whom we support as president,” Bolton said.

He stressed that he would like to create a broad coalition which could replace Maduro and the entire corruption regime which exists in Venezuela.

“That’s what we are trying to do,” he added.

In May 2018, presidential elections were held in Venezuela. According to the Central Election Commission of the country, the incumbent president Maduro got around 70% votes, but the opposition blocked the elections.

In January, amid mass protests against Maduro, the Chairman of the National Assembly Juan Guaido declared himself as acting president.

The majority of the EU counties, the U.S., Canada, Australia and a part of Latin America recognized Guaido as acting president of Venezuela.
