U.S. to assign 200 million dollars for strengthening Ukraine's security and defense sector

The draft military budget for 2019 stipulates that the money will go to Ukraine's needs in weaponry, logistics and reconnaissance support

The 2019 draft federal budget of the U.S. includes 200 million dollars of financial assistance for Ukraine. The aid is supposed to fund Ukraine's efforts in defense and security area. Ukraine's Embassy in the U.S. reported that on Facebook.

'The funds will go Ukraine's needs in weaponry, ammunition, equipment and other military goods and services, as well as logistics and reconnaissance support,' reads the message. 

The Embassy added that Ukraine is among few states that are to get help in the security sector under the Foreign Military Financing program.

The draft budget for 2019 is yet to be discussed at the U.S. Congress, where lawmakers can edit it and offer various amendments. It is only after this stage that the actual amount of U.S. assistance is revealed.

In December 2017, U.S. leader Donald Trump signed the country's defense budget for 2018. The bill foresees that Ukraine is to get 350 million dollars so as to deter the Russian aggression.
