The United States supports Ukraine in its anti-corruption reforms and in its bid to join the North Atlantic Alliance. This was stated by US Secretary of Energy Jennifer M. Granholm at the Crimean Platform summit.
"On behalf of President Biden, we want to express our support for Ukraine, its reforms, and your work regarding North Atlantic aspirations. We support your fight against corruption and, in a greater sense, your more serious fight against Russian aggression. Our support will be defended with concrete, substantial assistance," she said.
Granholm assured that this support will continue, and stressed that the United States is proud to have been with Ukraine for three decades.
The inaugural summit of the platform takes place on 23 August 2021, on the eve of the 30th anniversary of Ukraine's independence.
Crimean Platform is a diplomatic initiative of Ukraine. It is designed to be an international coordination mechanism to restore Russia–Ukraine relations by means of reversing the 2014 annexation of Crimea by the Russian Federation. The protection of the human rights of Crimean Tatars, environmental degradation, and the stifling of trade in the Black and Azov Sea region are also matters discussed at the summit.
