US State Department in connection with death of an OSCE observer and wounding of another two members of the mission due to the explosion of the mini car in Luhansk region, urged Russia to use influence on the separatists in order that the mission could conduct a full, transparent and timely investigation of the tragic incident.
This was stated by the US State Department.
US State Department spokesman Mark Toner said the killing underscored the increasingly dangerous conditions under which the OSCE mission operated, including grappling with "access restrictions, threats, and harassment."
"The United States urges Russia to use its influence with the separatists to allow the OSCE to conduct a full, transparent, and timely investigation," Toner said.
"This tragic incident makes clear the need for all sides - and particularly the Russian-led separatist forces - to implement their commitments under the Minsk agreements immediately," Toner said.
Also, the statement said that the OSCE has full support of the United States that strongly condemn manifestations of hostility and intimidation mission’s staff.
"They should be safe and have access to the conflict zone everywhere," the US State Department stressed.
US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson also spoke about the incident on Sunday with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko, who offered his condolences.
Earlier it was reported Incident with OSCE car explosion must be investigated, perpetrators - punished, Poroshenko said. Ukraine's President stressed that the Ukrainian side condemns all forms of constant obstruction of the work of the OSCE SMM by militants.
