The US authorities hope that Moscow and Beijing will support additional sanctions against the DPRK, if this country conducts another test of nuclear weapons, reported AP on Friday with reference to unnamed representatives of the US administration.
It is noted that the presidential advisers also discussed the topic of recognition of the DPRK as a nuclear power.
The scenario of military intervention was also discussed, but later the administration decided to abandon such actions and increase pressure on Pyongyang.
It is also reported that the US authorities are counting on the help of Russia and China.
Earlier it was reported that the National Security Council of Japan discussed measures to evacuate 57,000 citizens from South Korea in the event of an aggravation of the crisis in the region.
"Officials in the US hope that China and Russia will agree to more stringent UN sanctions against the DPRK if this country conducts another test of nuclear weapons," the agency said.
