US Special Representative for Ukraine Kurt Volker will visit Kyiv on August 23, where he will meet with representatives of the Ukrainian authorities. This is reported in the message of the US State Department.
"On August 23 Kurt Volker will travel to Kyiv, Ukraine, where he will join Defense Secretary James Mattis at meetings with high-ranking Ukrainian officials to discuss the next steps in diplomatic negotiations to restore Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity", said in the message.
In addition, it is noted that the special representative on Monday, August 21, intends to visit Minsk (Belarus), where he will meet with a representative of the Russian government to discuss Russian-Ukrainian relations.
Then Volker intends to go to Vilnius to meet with high-ranking government officials to discuss further steps in Ukraine.
Earlier it was reported that the head of the Pentagon, Mattis, would visit Kyiv on the Independence Day of Ukraine. He intends to meet with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko and Defense Minister Stepan Poltorak.
Volker was appointed special representative of the United States for Ukraine on July 7 this year. His task is to coordinate all efforts of the State Department to resolve the conflict in Donbas.
