Senator John McCain secretly traveled to the northern Syria last week to speak with American military officials and Kurdish fighters at the forefront of the push to drive Islamic State out of their de facto capital of Raqqa, annonced US officials. This was reported by the Wall Street Journal.
The unusual visit, which officials said was organized with the help of the US military, in the midst of US assessment. The Senator visited Kurdish-controlled Kobani city.
McCain became the first among the American authorities, who went to the Kurdish-controlled territory. Before this meeting Senator visited Saudi Arabia.
