The United States has initiated a new bill to support religious freedom in Ukraine and hold Russia accountable for such violations. The corresponding bill was presented in the Senate. This is stated on the website of the US Helsinki Commission.

The bill to support religious freedom in Ukraine was initiated by a bipartisan group of US senators.

The bill to support freedom of religion in Ukraine will allow and require the US President to take into account especially serious violations of religious freedom in the Ukrainian territory of Crimea and Donbas. The bill confirms that "the US policy is never to recognize an illegal attempt to annex Crimea by the Russian government or to secede any part of Ukrainian territory by military force."

Earlier the US Senate Committee supported the bill on partnership with Ukraine in the field of security. The bill, in particular, provides for an increase in the annual US military aid to Ukraine. Introducing it, the chairman of the Committee, Senator from the US Democratic Party Robert Menendez called the initiative "a timely signal" in support of Ukraine.

To protect its coastline in light of rising tensions on the border with Russia, Ukraine has asked Germany to supply defensive weapons - used German corvettes, anti-ship missile components, air defense systems and mine-clearing equipment. This is reported by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung.

It is noted that German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas reacted negatively to the possible supply of weapons to the Ukrainian side. Defense Minister Annegrette Kramp-Karrenbauer and the chairman of the foreign policy committee of the Bundestag Norbert Röttgen expressed a positive attitude towards this.

"Since Russia is threatening war, it would be wrong to exclude the supply of purely defensive weapons systems now," Röttgen said.

Earlier, the Ukrainian intelligence reported that the Russian Federation is ready for large-scale provocations against Ukraine, including an offensive deep into the territory of our country.
