US Senate changes policy on provision of Ukraine with lethal weapons

New officials of the Pentagon supported the supply of the weapons

The US administration is close to the change of the policy on the provision of Ukraine with lethal weapons. Jim Inhofe, the senator from Republican Party claimed this as Voice of America reported.

It is reported that the hearings dedicated to the appointment of new officials in Pentagon took place in committee.

'The former presidential administration did not plan to provide Ukraine with the defensive weapons and now it changes', Inhofe claimed and emphasized that he supports the provision of Ukraine with the lethal weapons.

'I think that it is important to support Ukraine in the fight against Russian aggression. I visited Kyiv last autumn as a member of the US trade delegation and met the President of Ukraine, Defense Minister, National Security Council and others', he said.

According to Inhofe, he understood that the Ukrainians hold the difficult fight against Russian aggression.

'I think that it is important to send a signal to President Putin and others that we are ready to support the Ukrainians in this issue. I am sure that Putin thinks that the West shows the weakness, he emphasized.

Earlier the US Senate passed the defense budget 2018, which foresees allocating $350 million for aiding Ukraine in its security.
