The White House is ready for talks with Tehran. Mark Esper, the U.S. Defense Secretary reported that in an interview with CBS News.

"We're willing to sit down and discuss without precondition, a new way forward, a series of steps by which Iran becomes a more normal country", he said.

According to the official, President Trump also confirmed that the meeting with the Iranian government would take place.

The reporter asked the Pentagon chief if the U.S. government would change its stance, taking into account Tehran's reaction to protests, if the Iranian government use force against the activists. Esper only replied that Trump "has drawn no preconditions other than to say we're willing to meet with the Iranian government."

As is known, Iranian students took it to the streets in Tehran on January 11. They demanded to punish those behind shooting down Ukrainian civilian aircraft, flight PS752. Recently, Iran recognized that the plane was actually shot down by a missile, due to the AA defense system operator's mistake.
