During the speech, which lasted about an hour and a half, Trump spoke about the economy, healthcare, and border security.
“Three years ago, we launched the great American comeback. Tonight, I stand before you to share the incredible results. Jobs are booming, incomes are soaring, poverty is plummeting, crime is falling, confidence is surging, and our country is thriving and highly respected again! America’s enemies are on the run, America’s fortunes are on the rise, and America’s future is blazing bright,” – Trump stated in speech.
Some Democrats said they would skip Trump’s State of the Union, citing his ongoing impeachment.
Trump’s speech was followed by a Democratic response from Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer, whose priorities while running for governor in 2018 included infrastructure and health care reform.
