The United States of America has prepared 18 scenarios in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine. But so far they are not going to reveal them. US Secretary of State Victoria Nuland spoke about this in an interview with the Financial Times.
"I'm not going to reveal 18 different scenarios. I'm just going to say that our negotiations that we have with our allies are aimed at causing very sharp pain and very quickly if Russia takes this step in any form," Nuland said. .
According to her, the United States is ready to impose new sanctions against Russia if it decides to invade.
At the same time, she stressed that the door for a diplomatic search for a way out of the situation is open, and today Washington is working on written responses to Russian demands for "security guarantees."
Earlier it was reported that the Democrats in the US Senate prepared a new package of sanctions against the Russian Federation in the event of an invasion of Ukraine. The new law will impose broad sanctions against high-ranking Russian military and government officials, including Putin.
However, soon the press secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov said that the introduction of US sanctions against Russian President Vladimir Putin would be an outrageous step, comparable to breaking off relations.
