The U.S. House of Representatives has passed a bill aimed at preventing Russia's participation in G7 meetings. This was reported by Voice of America.

Thus, the United States opposes the restoration of the G8 format with the participation of the Russian Federation.

The document prohibits the Washington administration from using federal funds to support or facilitate Russia's participation in upcoming G7 meetings.

This measure will cease to operate after the US Secretary of State and Director of National Intelligence assure lawmakers that Russia has stopped any interference in U.S. elections or election processes of other G7 countries, NATO, and the EU. The country must also end its occupation of Crimea, South Ossetia, and Abkhazia as well as withdraw its troops from Transnistria.

This initiative will be considered by the Senate.

As we reported earlier, France sees no reasons for the return of the G8 format.

“France believes that reasons for exclusion of Russia from G7 did not disappear and doubt the will of Moscow to join the group of seven economic states,” the statement said.
