The Administration of U.S. President Donald Trump claimed that the purchase offer of U.S.-made PATRIOT surface-to-air missile systems for Turkey has expired. The Hill reported that, quoting the governmental authority.
“We have consistently told Turkey that our latest offer of PATRIOT would be off the table if it took delivery of the S-400 system. Our PATRIOT offer has expired,” the outlet wrote citing the official.
Besides, the U.S. government excluded Turkey from the F-35 production and purchase program. "U.S. officials are worried that the S-400’s powerful radars could be used to gather information on the F-35, the United States’s most advanced fighter jet. U.S. and NATO officials have also warned Turkey the S-400 is incompatible with NATO systems", The Hill wrote.
Russia has been supplying its SAM systems to Turkey since July; Washington opposed the deal, offering to buy Patriots instead.
