The U.S. Treasury of the State has imposed sanctions against the Ukrainian company, charged with shipping the Venezuelan oil. The Voice of America reported that with a reference to the U.S. authority.
According to the Treasury of the State, the sanctions concern Fides Ship Management company based in Odesa, southern Ukraine. The restrictions also affect four vessels owned by the company: Baliar (flows the flag of Liberia), Balita, Domani and Freedom (all three flow the flag of Cameroon).
According to You control, the company was registered in 2015.
In 2019, the U.S. imposed sanctions against Venezuela's state-run oil company PDVSA and blocked its assets. It was part of campaign against the recognition of Nicolas Maduro as the legitimate leader of Venezuela. The new sanctions did not ban the import of Venezuelan oil to the U.S. However, they forbid U.S. companies to perform any financial operations with PDVSA.
