The US White House has imposed sanctions against Belarus and also suspended flights with this country due to the landing of a Ryanair plane in Minsk and the detention of journalist Roman Protasevich. This was reported on the White House website.
Thus, US citizens were urged not to travel to Belarus. US passenger carriers are also advised to exercise extra caution when considering flights in Belarusian airspace.
On June 3, 2021, the United States will re-impose full blocking sanctions against nine Belarusian state-owned enterprises previously granted relief under a series of General Licenses by the Treasury Department. The White House will develop a decree that will give the United States expanded powers to impose sanctions on "key members of the Lukashenko regime" and his "support network".
