U.S. House of Representatives has voted in favor of allocating 698 million dollars in financial assistance to Ukraine. This sum will be transferred to Ukraine in 2020, Voice of America reports.
Ukraine will receive 2.3 million dollars more than in 2019. House of Representatives supported financial assistance during the voting on the 2020 bills regarding the U.S. Government’s financing. U.S. Senate should consider assistance to Ukraine later.
Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur said that the new assistance demonstrates "strong and reliable support of U.S. authorities for Ukraine".
As we reported earlier, U.S. Congress agreed the defense budget for 2020, which provides the allocation of $300 million of military aid to Ukraine as Reuters informed.
The funds will be allocated for the implementation of the initiative on the assistance to Ukraine in the security sphere.
The negotiations on the budget lasted for a few months. It is expected that it would be adopted until the end of 2019.
Generally, the defense budget of the U.S. for the next year is $738 billion.
