The House of Representatives of the US Congress has agreed to provide the amendments to the annual draft defensive budget that provide sanctions against the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline as Radio Liberty reported.
The introduced amendments oblige the US president to introduce sanctions against all persons and companies involved in the activity and construction of the Nord Stream 2.
It is noted that these amendments potentially pose threat to the agreement reached by the administration of Biden and Germany in July on the Nord Stream 2. The amendment does not allow to release from the sanction on different allegations, for example, the interests of the national security. The White House used such a mechanism recently.
It is noted that the bill should be approved by the Senate and signed by President Joe Biden to become law.
As it was reported earlier, the construction of the Russian Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline was completely finished as of the morning of September 10.
It was earlier promised, that the first gas supply through the Nord Stream 2 will happen until the end of this year, during the upcoming heating season.
