U.S. government considers expanding list of Russians facing sanctions, - Tillerson

The White House could expand the list of the Russian entities and officials that face sanctions. U.S. Secretary of the State Rex Tillerson said that as quoted by CBS TV channel

'We already made steps, which prevented a number of Russian military supplies - under the respective law. And we consider, which of the Russian representatives could face sanctions,' Tillerson said.

Previously, Steven Mnuchin, the U.S. Secretary of Treasury claimed that the U.S. Department of Treasury actively works on the new sanctions against Russia, which will be announced in a short time. 

'We actively work on the sanctions against Russia on the basis of our confidential briefing (Kremlin report)', he said.

Steven Mnuchin added that the administration works out all necessary steps to impose the sanctions provided by the bill ‘On Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions’ adopted in August 2017.

'I can assure you that these sanctions will be imposed soon', Mnuchin emphasized.

As we reported the ‘Kremlin report’ was presented in the US Congress on January 29. It contains 210 names close to Putin’s government. The US State Treasury presented only nonclassified part of the report. Particularly, the list includes all ministers of the Russian government, heads of the presidential administration, heads of both chambers of the parliament, mayor of Moscow and governor of St. Petersburg, leading businessmen and heads of the state companies.

Among those included in the list there are the Head of the Presidential Administration Anton Vayno, the Russian president’s press secretary., the Parliament speaker Vyacheslav Volodin, the Federation Council speaker Valentyna Matvienko, the Rosneft’ CEO Igor Sechin, Gazprom CER Alexey Miller, the Head of the Federal Secret Service Aleksandr Bortnikov, as well as some entrepreneurs like Roman Abramovich, Oleg Deripaska, Evgeniy Kaspersky, Suleyman Kerimov.
