US formally withdraws from Paris Climate Pact

The US Department of State noted they would continue to participate in the UN assemblies

The US Department of State filed a formal notice of withdrawal from the Paris Climate Pact, but would consider returning to it, if the terms for the United States improved, as Reuters informs.

"The United States supports a balanced approach to climate policy that lowers emissions while promoting economic growth and ensuring energy security," the department said in the release. 

It is noted that the US can complete the withdrawal procedure in November 2020.

The Paris Climate Pact adopted in 2015 confirms the sides obligation to reduce their carbon emission, and allocate $100 billion to developing countries for solving ecological issues by 2020.
