The U.S. forces will stay in Syria until the ISIL terrorist group gets destroyed. David Satterfield, Acting Assistant of the U.S. Secretary-General for the Middle East claimed this during a briefing. According to him, the American President said this to the Russian President, TASS reports.
‘There should be no doubt considering the position of President Trump regarding the future presence of the U.S.A. in Syria. We are there for an elimination, the full elimination of ISIL. That what says the message of the President to Putin, and this is the message, which we gave all our interlocutors,’ Satterfield said.
The State Department has also claimed that the UN is ready to activate the process of political resolution in Syria.
‘Concerning Russia and the reconstruction, I would want to confirm again: we have clearly shown the Russian Government – as clear as it possible that the international assistance for the reconstruction for Syria isn’t possible without an irreversible political process approved by the UN,’ Satterfield claimed.
According to The Guardian, the US is preparing for the “final phase” in its war against the Islamic State in Syria, aimed at concentrations of Isis fighters in the Euphrates valley, senior administration officials have insisted, even though it is cutting $230m from its budget to stabilize areas of Syria captured from Isis.
They said on Friday that the cut from US funding had been more than compensated by $300m in extra contributions from Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates and other US allies and that the US remained committed to the “enduring defeat of Isis”.
