The United States has so far managed to evacuate about 100,000 people from Afghanistan. This was announced on Twitter by US President Joe Biden.

"Despite extraordinary dangers and risks, we were able to evacuate more than 100,000 people in just a matter of days. We can — and we must — complete our mission. We will not be deterred by terrorists. We will not let them stop our mission. We will continue the evacuation," the message reads.

A total of approximately 7,500 people were evacuated from Kabul over a 12-hour period on Thursday, as AFP reported. This, it added, was the result of 14 US military flights which carried approximately 5,100 evacuees and 39 coalition flights which carried 2,400 people.

Meanwhile, US President Joe Biden has assured that his country is ready to complete the mission in Afghanistan on time - by August 31.
