Violence, which took place under the building of Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine during protests against the land sale market on December 17, provoked a negative reaction at the U.S. Embassy in Ukraine. The statement was publicized on the official Twitter account of the U.S. Embassy in Kyiv on the day of mass actions.
"We condemn the violence against police and journalists that took place today near the Verkhovna Rada," the U.S. Embassy stated.
In addition to that, U.S. diplomats stressed that the United States of America supports the right to peaceful protests.
As we reported earlier, Ukrainian farmers came to a protest near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. They protest against the land sale. Such protests took place in eight regions of Ukraine.
Besides that, the pepper gas was sprayed during the protest against the land sale near the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine. A police officer is among the affected.
On November 13, Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine supported the committee bill on the opening of the agricultural land market № 2178-10 as a basis.
