A delegation of five U.S. congressmen plans to visit Ukraine. They have scheduled meetings with President Zelensky, anti-corruption activists and representatives of non-governmental organizations that promote democracy in the country. This is reported by Voice of America with reference to the head of the delegation and the leader of the majority of the U.S. House of Representatives Steny Hoyer.

“We should be serious regarding threats to democracy from within and from outside. We will not allow Russian aggression to advance unchecked and we must work together to strengthen our fundamental democratic institutions,” Hoyer said.

In addition to meeting with President Zelensky, congressmen also plan to talk with Ukrainian anti-corruption activists and representatives of non-governmental organizations that promote democracy in the country.

In addition, the delegation will visit Babi Yar - a place of mass murder of Jews during the Holocaust and lay flowers on the Maidan in memory of the deceased protesters," the message said.

“The United States, together with our European allies, supports democracy. This delegation will send a clear message to our allies that the United States is committed to NATO and the principle of collective defense,” said Hoyer.

As part of the European tour, apart from Ukraine, the congressmen will visit Denmark, Hungary and Luxembourg.
